INNOVATION DESCRIPTION

Bringing additive manufacturing technology to the point of need is an innovation hurdle companies have been actively exploring for years. Practical breakthroughs have been made, one example being through a combined additive manufacturing/laser cutting assembly created by EY—Nottingham Spirk Innovation Hub.

This assembly produces industrial consumables as the point of need for both high-volume products and specialty products. The supply chain equation has completely changed as a result, with labor/manufacturing and inventory (fully made-to-order) now sitting at the point of need.

DEGREE OF CONFIDENTIALITY

This innovation is in the stages of commercial launch and is confidential. The technologies that drive this innovation can be discussed — the specific use-case being commercialized can not.
